What is Gingerbug?

A ‘ginger bug’ is a facto-fermented starter culture, that is used to make healthy, probiotic ginger sodas. Our story began with a real ‘ginger bug,’ which our founders used to make their first batch of farm house ginger beer. Our product is now prebiotic (instead of probiotic), but in the beginning, it all started with the ‘bug.’
Is Gingerbug actually low in sugar?

Yes. Our Dry Gingerbug contains only 4g of organic cane sugar per 355ml can, Original and Spicy varieties are lightly sweetened but still far below conventional sodas. We balance sugar to highlight flavor, not mask it. Our founders also are not fans of stevia, so unlike other brands, they avoided this ingredient entirely, sweeting only with a modest amount of real, organic cane sugar.
Does Gingerbug contain real ginger?

Absolutely. Every can is made with organic ginger juice, never extracts, artificial flavours, or even natural flavours. That’s where the bold, clean ginger heat comes from. It is possible that Gingerbug is the only ginger beer in the world that uses only real, organic ginger for its ginger flavour. You’ll taste the difference!
